COLONIAL REVIVAL RESIDENCE

LOCATION: CAMBRIDGE, MASSACHUSETTS

Located in the Brattle Street area of Cambridge, this Colonial Revival residence was thoughtfully refined to honor its classical roots through a carefully considered interior design approach.

The primary suite’s his-and-hers bathrooms were designed as distinct yet complementary environments. Her bath balances elegance and function, pairing brass and crystal fittings with a built-in makeup vanity and window seat. Metallic floral wallcovering and a moulding-framed mirrored wall enhance light and add dimension. His bath draws from traditional English precedents, featuring polished nickel fittings, a metal-legged console sink, and custom cabinetry in a muted green. Curbless showers, refined stonework, and tailored millwork create a cohesive experience across both spaces.

Throughout the home, newly sourced antiques are layered with inherited pieces, resulting in interiors that feel personal and collected over time. The entry foyer sets the tone, anchored by antique Biedermeier demi-lune consoles, hand-blocked wallpaper, and crystal lighting that feels elegant yet approachable. A hand-knotted carpet adds warmth and softness underfoot.

The powder room introduces a bold but measured moment. A lacquered green vanity and matching trim are paired with a black-and-white checkered floor that continues into the mudroom, creating visual continuity along a well-traveled circulation path.

The result is a home that feels timeless and thoughtfully layered, where classical references and carefully chosen interiors come together with ease..

A bathroom vanity with a dark gray cabinet, a marble countertop, and gold hardware. An oval mirror with a gold frame hangs above, with matching wall sconce lights on either side. The walls are covered in green botanical wallpaper, and there is a black and white checkered floor. A vase with purple tulips is on the left side of the countertop, and a white towel hangs on a gold towel ring on the right.
